Its been almost a year Dennis, where have you been?! Why are you back?! Well, besides to give a fishing report to go with the Santa Cruz fishing trip, I often give away some of my catch and ask people to send me pictures of their food. Recently got a pretty photogenic dinner picture and well… I mean how could I NOT blog to post them somewhere:
I mean, it’d be a crime to not post such tasty looking food! So I guess that means I should also like…blog. Properly ‘n all. I’ve got some gifs from a few of my recent trips, so I guess we’ll go with those. Santa Cruz & Capitola boat fishing report coming right up!
Oh my, click here to find out what we hooked into!
So WHAT WAS IT?!
A china! He caught it using shrimp :]
But that’s not all! I hooked up as he was reeling in too!
Wound up with a nice ling!
Jigged ‘er up on the bala jig (aka ho-d or hodie jig, you can learn how to make one here) tagged with a small strip of squid! Unfortunately it was juuuuust barely under:
Look at that! 1/4″!!! Damn :[ Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but you’re not supposed to pinch the tail right, I think that’s cheating? Anyhow, let it go to grow bigger.
Swimbait was doing okay the first day we went out, but the 2nd day not so much. Almost all the fish on the 2nd day came on the bala jig. Oddly enough, I got less hits jigging it, and more hits just dragging it along the bottom with bait. Guess it was a bait kinda day, fish felt sluggish/lazy or something.
Overall we seemed to find a pretty good amount of gophers both days:
Day1’s final catch:
Day 2’s final catch:
Not bad, but no limits. Had a ton of fun both times though, thank you very much Ming for inviting me out! :]
Hopefully I’ll be getting around to updating the site & posting more often!
