Golden Gate Bridge from the Ft Baker Pier (dungie being returned to the ocean)
YES IM GOING WITH THE SAME JOKE AGAIN
This is going to be a compilation post of the last two crabbing trips I went on. Both times we went out to the Fort Baker Pier to do some (successful!) crabbing. I fell behind on blogging again, so…its what ya’ll are getting.
Lets continue the catch up finally! On 12/20/2014 there was an okay low tide late afternoon (3 or 4 PM) and I decided I’d give it a shot, check out the south half moon bay jetty and see how the fishing was.
Props to Calvin for the title! Jennifer blew us out of the water today. She just kept catching fish after fish, and we were ….slowly catching canaries. Blah!
We went out on the Ankeny Street on Saturday for rock cod (8/23/2014). Fished 40-80 ft of water for a boat’s limit of rock cod, a couple lings, starry flounders, and sharks too! Was an exciting day, and as fun as usual! I got to try out a buzz bomb lure on a charter boat for the first time. Had to use a 5″ to get it to sink fast enough, and it seemed to work decently. Caught a chunky gopher with it, and missed two big hits. More than that, but just the highlights!
China rock cod on a buzz bomb lure
Anyhow, we all piled onto the boat a little after 7:30am. I started with a buzz bomb, Calvin & Glen started with shrimp flies, and Jennifer opted for a swim bait (2oz). Boy did that ever pay off for her! At the first stop, on the first drop, she pulled up the first fish, and it was her first ling cod, and it was legal! That was a lot of firsts, I know, but damn, insane!
edit: some images missing. Imgur sucks :[ hopefully they’ll load eventually
Together they make a wholesome memorial day weekend!
That was one long long weekend. I learned my lesson, I can handle about 4 activities for a 3 days weekend tops…I’m exhausted. I woke up this morning and literally could not function until I’d finished an entire energy drink. I was done with a second, and working on a cup of coffee before 11am.
Anyhow! I set off to go fishing at Steven’s Creek Reservoir on saturday (5/25/2013). Was hoping I’d be able to land a few bass and lots of crappie. Thought it might be the either right before or during spawning, but I might’ve been wrong. Didn’t get many bites, in fact much less then I had found from shore in winter even.
Was supposed to meet up with a couple friends, but some bailed. In the end it was Kara, Ying, Greg & me.
